Analysis of Tick tock ..tick tock

Sheri May 1967 (Bearden AR)

Tick Tock Tick Tock

Tick tock...Tick tock....one minute, two then three
Constant beats of my loneliness as it engulfs me.

Like the beat of the clock, my heartbeat echos as well.
The echo finds no barriers as it travels throughout this empty shell.

Being alone and empty makes everything inside
feel like a vast ocean fighting against its own tide.

Tick tock..Tick tock..one minute, two then three
carves the beats into the story of my very destiny.

Loneliness is so much more than a heartache. It shreds your very soul.
You scream at your very existence and curse your life as a whole.

The sound of time...Tick tock..Tick tock..
is as steady and constant as the sea crashing and battering against the rock.

Time is a curse that the lonely must ride.
Unless they stop life's clock early by committing suicide.

Only God's hands are destined to be in control of life's clock.
He alone is meant to give your lifetime it's intended number of beats of the Tick tock..Tick tock...
By taking life's clock away from God and into your own hands..
Your loneliness will now not end in a lifetime but will last an eternity that will stretch out like all the oceans vast sands.

Your soul may have traveled to another time and space..
But it will now be cursed to the sound of the Tick tock..Tick tock for an eternity in it's forever resting place.

About this poem

This is a poem about how a person can become so lonely that every beat of the clock is an excruciating reminder that he is alone.
