Analysis of Lost at Sea

How is one to distinguish
The difference in between,
The longing for a stranger
Or just the greater scheme.

A loud wholesome smile
Kindness beaming from the core,
An unexpected treasure
Washed upon the shore.

A refreshing gust of air
Blew in from sea that day,
The colors that soon followed
Diminished my clouds of gray.

You see, I set sail some time ago
But the voyage it was rough,
The waves abruptly crashing
Sunshine never felt enough.

The nights were often breezy
And the rain frequently poured,
Drowning in temptation
As I contemplate overboard.

An unrealistic option
Unfair to friend or foe,
I pull out my directions
And map a new place to go.

I gently lowered my sail
Letting the wind take hold,
‘Cause any place is better
Than out here in the cold.

I still have no destination
As I place both hands on the wheel,
All that I am certain of
Is no one dictates how I feel.
