Analysis of The Last Goodbye?

Steve Cochrane 1955 (Cape)

I knew it had to end but still
It came too soon for me,
Since hours seemed like seconds 'till
The ending came to be.

I loved that final day with you
Which made it hard to say
Goodbye to one I loved so true.
You did not feel that way.

But maybe as the months go by
Our paths will cross once more
And when I look into each eye,
I'll find your love once more!
