Analysis of Waiting For Light

Kim Spivey 1957 (New York)

                               Waiting For Light

Waiting for the sunrise, so bright and so clear

I hardly could sleep, having nighttime fears.

Calmly, I lay there, hoping for light.

Drinking sleepy time tea to ward off all fright.

Suddenly appears the shadowy moon,

looking peaceful and calm.

I spoke too soon.

I close my eyes and drift off to sleep.

In the morning I awake, there's the sun,

Take a peek.
