Analysis of What Should It Feel Like?
What Should it Feel Like?
Gary Shulman, MS. Ed.
July 21, 2023
I distinctly remember when grandpa
Was my absolute current age
So does that mean I’m ancient now
Or just a very well seasoned sage?
I am truly convinced right here right now
My brain cells are reaching their peak
But then again more years will come
Perhaps more brain stimulation I’ll seek
The reflection I see in my mirror today
Has imperfections or perhaps really not
For at 72 yearly journeys on earth
I am proud of every wrinkle I got
So what’s the point of my rambling here
What am I trying to say?
I guess it’s all about attitude
And how in life you choose to play
For growing old doesn’t have to be
The end of the accepted road
As long as you keep on leaving this world
With less of a heavy load
As long as each day is seen as a chance
To leave a gloriously positive gift
And plant a healthy footprint behind
While healing some implausible rift
Aging if tempered with passions fulfilled
Is mellow like a fine Chardonnay
And though the body might creak a bit more
You will bless each optimistic new day
