Analysis of Signs of the Times
Signs of the Times
A dictator-ship sailing the seven seas
A night-birds song on the evenings breeze
An unorthodox relationship with anti-freeze
The heimleck manoeuvre over a piece of cheese
Nuclear undertones among armies of genetic clones
Spectacular telephones in secluded containment zones
Grand consultations with lethal, hybrid, danger drones
A third world without water, the rest without homes
A morbid fascination with decay and dying
A forward obfuscation of delay while obviously lying
The suffering and sorrow of the human race collectively sighing
A problematic tomorrow rises above the sound of crying
The lethal gap between the rich and poor
The leaking tap of a society that always asks for more
The genius rap of a prophet on the street and looking to score
A dying trees sap, an earth damaged to the core.
Famine, poverty, war and fame
The gravity, the longevity , oh what’s really in a name?
The terrible rules of the universal game
A planet in catastrophe, mankind covered in shame.
The war upon terror, the battle of the sexes,
A fundamental error, a delayed response in reflexes
Pretending that we’re too clever to have to rectify our mistakes
We missed the signs upon the weather, there is no time to double-take
The urgency of poverty, the agony of war
The name of Deuteronomy, did creation come before ?
Reflective ideology , a sacrificial whore
The blatant furiosity, as we ask what it’s all for?
Human traffic costing less than a nominal fee
The graphic illusion of what it means to be free
I once was blind but now I see
The ecstatic bemusement of the hegemony
Collisions and derisions of an atmosphere in dire need
Incisions and precisions of the innocent who were never freed
The injustice of the decisions motivated by pure greed
The visions of the ghettos bound by an underprivileged need
A biological disaster brings the loss of unique species and fauna
A diabolical embalmer of treaties and trauma
Whatever happens don’t ever let me say that I didn’t warn you
That this planet needs a reboot before artificial intelligence decides to storm through
So collectively preoccupied with monetary funding economic success
We’re instinctively left open wide eyed, as evolution begins to regress
We consequentially frame injustices by worshipping “the best”
And fundamentally de-structure what professional problem solvers suggest
So bless the broken systems, send light to the blood stains on the wall
Give strength to the grander visions, lest we overcome it all.
Gather your provisions just as even the grandest of us fall
Make your own ethical decisions so that you can stand tall among it all.
