Analysis of A letter to a lover

With every stroke of this pen, my heart poured out
Words written with longing, and a love torn apart.
I remember your touch, feeling like yesterday
But time has gone by, leaving only emptiness.

I still remember the promises we made to each other
A future filled with love, with dreams so crystal clear.
Yet, here I stand, yearning for your return,
Your children, our precious ones, innocently ask,

"When will Daddy be back?" their voices echoing   none stop,
Their hopeful eyes search for their father's love
But days turn to weeks, and still, we are managing to pretend.
In my heart, once burning flame now starts to fade,

Gone with the winds, lost in the unknown,
If you don't find me soon, I fear I'll slip away.
How can love bloom in the absence of touch,
When longing turns bitter, and heart hurt too much

My love, how can I still hold onto our past?
The laughter, the whispers, the moments that last.
I pray that you'll come back, and mend what is broken,
I left the children for they aren't mine alone.

Yours eternally,
Anastacia

About this poem

This poem portrays the deep emotions and longing of a person named Anastacia for her partner, who has been absent from her life for some time. The poem speaks of a love that was once strong and passionate but has now been torn apart by time and distance. Anastacia reminisces about the past, remembering the touch of her partner and the promises they made to each other. She expresses her yearning for his return and how their children also long for their father's love. The poem reflects the pain of pretending that everything is fine while the absence of her partner leaves her feeling empty. As time goes by, Anastacia's love starts to fade, and she fears losing herself if her partner doesn't find her soon. She questions how love can flourish without physical touch and describes the bitterness and hurt that arise from longing. She desperately holds onto the memories of their past, the laughter, whispers, and moments they shared, hoping for reconciliation and the mending of their broken relationship. Anastacia concludes by expressing her eternal love and dedication to her partner and mentions that she left the children because they belong to both of them. The poem encapsulates the yearning, pain, and hope of a person who deeply misses and longs for the return of their loved one.
