Analysis of The Queen Monarch

Amelia,
the Queen Monarch

Who outstretched her wings
to migrate across the globe.

Who followed her magnetic compass
to the equator for warmth.

Who dodged the birds
who challenged her quest,
and left behind more eggs
than any monarch before her.

It is true, Icarus flew too close to the sun,
but in that he proved,
Flight could be done.

It is true, the Queen Monarch did not return,
But her wings reduced to ash?

–Pixie Dust for the caterpillars
whose job it is to grow,
and grow, and grow.

Fluttering in the hearts of many
as to inspire a flight of their own:

The Queen Monarch still flies

This is the happy thought
that gifts color to my wings.
