Analysis of Mother's Day

God was busy making angels, and one stood out from the others.
He saved up all His special parts and put them with my mother’s.
He felt this job was special as He worked on her all night.
He knew just what He had to do and had to do it right.

He relied upon His expertise right from the very start.
He had to leave a lot of room for Mom’s humongous heart.
Part two would be God’s favorite cause it came down from above.
He ordered it from heaven, and it would be my mother’s love.

Although she was quite lovely, her looks were not His goal.
Her beauty lived inside of her and thrived within her soul.
Each part was made with loving care and sprinkled with emotion.
Only God would have the skill to make my mom’s devotion.

God gave my mom a special gift to last throughout her years.
He worked so hard to make her that His sweat became her tears.
He worked with pure perfection, and He loved this job so much.
It prospered in my mother’s grace and in her loving touch.

God had to add a special part, although it was demanding.
He knew my mom was going to need a lot of understanding.
When He installed that final piece, the Good Lord was elated!
And all the saints would marvel at the gem that He created.

About this poem

My mom was a very special lady. Although I know I disappointed her on so many occasions, she remained supportive and understanding. I think of her every time I screw up and how she would always ease my pain. God rest her soul!!

I'm 76 years old and a combat veteran from Vietnam. I used to compose poetry while on ambush patrol as a way of staying awake on watch, since falling asleep could be hazardous to my health. I started early in life though, because, as a child, I would write little tidbits to my mom for the heck of it. more…
