Analysis of Hearts Residing in Darkness

There are those whose hearts are bound forever by darkness,
Engulfed in an unrelenting black flame that consumes any hope.
To lose the light that guides our hearts is to lose our humanity,
Yet still these hearts reside in darkness, sheltered from the light.
These hearts cannot enter the light, for it overwhelms them,
But what causes these hearts to retreat back into despair?
Why can't they accept the light that guides the rest of us?
For these hearts, there seems to be no other path;
Darkness is all they know, and changing that is almost impossible.
Perhaps one day, some of these lost hearts will find their light,
But those who have surrendered completely to hopelessness
Have become unconscious, void of any consciousness or sight.
For them, this darkness is unbeatable, inescapable, and irreversible,
And yet, we can still hold hope that one day
they may find the light,
That they may break free from the binds of their eternal darkness,
And live in the radiance of life, instead of the dead of the night.
