Analysis of There Once Was A Time (Bussokusekika)

Edwin Tanguma 1966 (CA)

There Once Was A Time   (Bussokusekika)

There once was a time
I wanted to take Miguel
With me to Reno
We’ll not be making that trip
Sadly he has passed away
I guess God was not willing

About this poem

I used to have a very good friend that I would prospect with…He used to take me to some interesting places in Mexico and I had promised him that one day, I would take him to some of the places I frequented here in the U.S.A. Sadly he had a stroke and he’d passed away on my birthday this year…He was the only person I trusted enough to even think about taking with me to certain areas…I guess God did not want such a thing to happen…Maybe one day I will try to make it up to him by at least taking his wife with me to at least one of my little playgrounds…That is IF God is willing…
