Analysis of Where is the love in this world...

Where is the love in this world

Tell me where is the love because I seem to ask this to myself over and again. I can tell as you walk up to me that all is not well with you but I’m left motionless, desperate for answers. Truth is often times I want to see God in you but clearly I’m setting myself up for heartache... it feels as if I see in you what I want to see but not all that is out there for the entire world to see, blinded by trust and love many may call it.
The reason I’m asking where is the love is because I know that you remember that picture you went to meet your partner only to find them in bed with another person who is old enough to be their parent. I’m asking where is the love in that father who drank all of his pay cheque and sleeping out until it’s finished, when he finally goes home to a loving wife demanding food that he didn’t buy... we all know what he does when the response he gets is that “there’s no food”. Where is the love when he beats up her pretty smooth face until it turns grey.
Ignorance often leads us astray hence I know you remember that incident when a young man kicked down that old lady and took her old age grant and yet we praise these barbaric bandits as hustlers. I’m asking where is the love in that heavily pregnant woman who has been drinking and smoking since the first cycle of her pregnancy. Where is the love in those six men, who dragged that church loving girl to the bushes and they repeatedly raped her, and left her for dead. Where is the love a husband was meant to have for his wife, a mother for her kids, a brother for his sister and yes as one nation, as one human race, a stranger for a stranger.
Where is the love in this crazy yet wonderful world?

About this poem

It is a poem that seeks to find the answer to the one treasure that we are all looking for. It questions our actions as celestial beings who do not think twice about hurting the other person.
