Analysis of The Game is Over

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Lord, I’ll put my trust in You,
You call them the way You see them.
Your vision is not impaired by sin,
So, I know that You can free them!

Your decisions are all right and just,
Whether safe or out at the plate.
My mind says go but my heart says stay,
So, for You here now I’ll wait!

I will not run on the pitch this time,
And get thrown out at second base.
Because I want to make it home,
And there to see Your face!

I want to hear the angels cheer,
As You call me safe; not out,
I want to see the wicked disappear,
When You give that mighty shout!

And when I see them file out,
To go the way, they are going.
Then I’ll be standing here with You!
As the final score is showing!
