Analysis of God is tortured
I now believe God is tortured.
I think he is mortified the same as us,
of that feeling of emptiness.
He must be nothing more than a sentient program,
himself too bound to unseen strings.
I feel for him now.
His world must be as dark as our own.
Although but a glitch of his power,
we were blessed to be small.
Our speck of blue is enough for countless songs,
billions of voices heard,
But not him.
God sees all,
and so by design,
he sees almost nothing.
I wonder if he too cried at being alone
in the dark as a child.
How many millions of years
did he exist cold
and in fear

About this poem
I am a former Christian who has long condemned God for how others have abused his power, but I try to look at him with the basic human empathy he deserves, just as anyone else.
