Analysis of My Father

Fear for some was a silly scrape or argument
For me, it was my father's addiction
My father got involved with something unfortunate
And he fell off the cliff end

My father was a man feared by many
A man nobody liked
He started his addiction before he was twenty
When he bought his first pipe

My father kept his addiction a secret from many
But at home, we all knew
He had his first kid before he turned twenty
And he was abandoned like an old shoe

I wish I could say he's gotten better since I was a child
But my father was never one to try
What he was going through was anything but mild
And there will never be a point for me to cry

About this poem

This is a poem I wrote about my father's ongoing addiction with drugs. Unfortunately many people go through addiction such as my father. This is something special to me, and I hope you love it.
