Analysis of Hallelujah
Brooke Rigsby 1992 (South Carolina)
Beauty
Divinity
All that made you
All you were
I couldn’t attempt to
Can time change the timeless
You stand prophetic proof
Yet I raise you and you quell me
Turned your head but saw past me
Is this cold crass crucifixion
Part of your proverbial plot
To rid me from your side
Do I scare you
Because I challenge you?
Preach not to me of love
Preach not of sin
Thou God who hast betrayed his own kin
And if not with you
Against you I scream
Hallelujah to the broken king
