Analysis of CRACK IN THE WALL

E I VICTOR 2003 (Adamawa)

CRACK IN THE WALL

slowly and clamly, it all started
It seemed small and insignificant
Having no power to cause mass destruction
"It's not important", it's just a small crack" so we said

We then ignored it
Believing it was not that dangerous
Believing it wasn't deadly
We never knew we were digging out own graves
We unwillingly and
Unconsciously played with our lives

Taking it for granted
We ignored the inner voice which told us that the crack signifies danger
"Repair it" the voice said
But we never listened

The crack kept on increasing
We saw it but ignored it
We can keep managing it we taught
It's no big deal
We still folded our hands and watched

Like cancer it kept spreading
But we kept wining and dining
Saying "all is well"
We refused to heed to advice
We rejected good counsel
We claimed we could handle it

But no,our eyes later opened wide
Sorrow, regret and agony filled our souls
We came to discover how wrong we were
How foolish have we been we asked ourselves
Why did we refuse good counsel?

It was too late to cry over spilled milk
We lost everything
Every single thing
Our beautiful mansion crumbled
Crumbled !yes it crumbled
To the ground it fell
Collapsing and destroying everything
All because we ignored the small crack which resulted to a great fall
We really learnt our lesson the hard way .

About this poem

This poem talks about the need to deal with issues at an early stage when it seems incapable of causing great harm rather than waiting until the whole issue gets out of hand.
