Analysis of Flashbacks
Tuesday morning, the last day of short sleeves and skirts
First time I saw you, no idea how much it would hurt
You gave me a reason to get up every morning
And as I smiled at you, I didn't listen to the warnings
Fifteen days later, you're still my everyday friend
And I was still a wide eyed girl, not wanting it to end
Even after the rainstorms, and the things that you said
My needy heart didn't leave you, it ignored your flaws instead
You knew I didn't stand a chance, you used me like a doll
I didn't come to my senses 'till you had pushed me to fall
I tried to speak up to you, tried to speak what I thought
But you wouldn't hear a word from me, in your trap I was caught
Two words, so much meaning, I just can't believe that it's true
"It's over" are probably the last words I'll hear from you
You don't seem affected by me, your heart can move on
You have so many friends, I can't believe that you're gone
Even now that it's over, I can't help going back
To when you were there for me, and I still get the flashbacks
And that old knitted sweater, the one that you outgrew
It still hangs in my closet, and I'll never forget you
Three months gone, and I'm not broken hearted anymore
Notes that we passed, they were collecting dust in my drawer
But now I'm taking them out, reading them one by one
And I guess it was worth it, because we both had fun

About this poem
This tells the story of a relationship that didn't work out. At first, it seemed perfect. But eventually, I came to my senses and ended it. I was broken for a while, but in the end I was over it.
