Analysis of A life of Love

erosthepoet 1997 (Cape Town)

Here lies Eros, born to love
born to give what he himself has none thereof
for a loving heart knows only drought
a soul only known, but known nothing about

Here lies Eros, doomed to fail
his own success but a fairy tale
where once was love, now lies distrust
learnt through loss he hides his heart behind his lust

Here lies Eros, a life of pain
Bound by his heart to try again.
