Analysis of As Death Approaches

Harold Creggan 1950 (Tadcastor)

He sits at his keyboard as death from a fallen lung
            approaches, White Rabbit.
No apologies would wash for what has been alleged, he
             has done, White Rabbit.
No succor, no help will be given him, White Rabbit.
no solid evidence no proof of his supposed
perfidy exists or ever will. White Rabbit.
He gives no confession of that which he never did,
will gladly embrace the death that comes,
                           White Rabbit.
No hand will touch him as he walks that last mile alone,
                White Rabbit.
He loves his country still though it executes him by
                medical  attention withheld.
His solemn oath to protect His country from enemies
                 foreign and domestic, remains still
                              unblemished, White Rabbit.
For he fought the corporations both foreign and
domestic that hold this country in their thrall
                               White Rabbit.
He issues no clarion call to revolt for his experience
has shown this futile, White Rabbit.
Mon ami adieu. White Rabbit.
