Analysis of He Gave His Only Son for Us

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Why do you take a shine to me?
And look at me with love
I have not done a single thing
That I can conceive of

What is this man that You
Should lavish on him all Your grace
And give him hope that he
Might one day see You face to face

And not just that but when he does
That he shall be like You
And welcomed in Your kingdom
As Your son You always knew

God when has there ever been
A Father such as You
Your promises all come to be
They’re faithful and they’re true

You shine Your light down on us
And we worship at Your feet
And one day we are confident
That in the air we’ll meet

The love of the Lord knows no boundaries
