Analysis of O Lord
O Lord,
I am a child born under Heavens stars,
But Heaven stopped the stars from shining bright.
I must look inward for my light.
O Lord,
I am a child born in the midst of the forest of life,
But the Eagle stopped building her nest.
I must look inward for my rest.
O Lord,
I am a child born on the waves of time
But the ocean stopped providing it's tide,
I must look inward for my saving pride.
O Lord,
I am a child born in a world where light is dying
But I refuse to stop shining bright.
When all the stars go dim, I will display my light.
O Lord,
I am a child born where some people don't respect life
But I refuse to stop singing my song.
When the music stops, I will sing all day long.
O Lord,
I am a child where the waves of time move too fast
But I refuse to stop swimming this eternal sea
If ever time stops midstream, someone will keep going-me!

About this poem
I wrote this poem because it is a prayer to both my God and to my inner child. This poem reflects an ever-going spirit of continuing to fight even if that fight to live against the odds even doing so goes against everything the world is offering in the moment. This poem was written when I was dealing with depression, and is a reflection of my evolving spirit to pursue life beyond the extremities I was facing in my personal life. This poem is an inspirational poem written to the child within myself. more »
