Analysis of Lily-Belle

Nature's creation hovers
in humming bird motion
ethereal in Fairy-Dragon's dream
mid-summer breezes, so serene
They congregate around the
once azure pool, pristine
Now unkempt, neglected,
turned algae-ridden green
but still humming with life
as thirsty wasps and hungry Swallows
quench and feed.
A meeting place, they congregate,
the damsels in their Scarlet finery
Dragon flies preen in electric teals
and Colbalt blues
Such rendezvous' in
'Houdini-style' clinches... Ooh !
The original Helicopter creation
hovers, zipping, darting,
sparking off reflective light
glinting in pastel rainbow hues
magnetised in the glimmer, caught unawares
suddenly, her feather-light wings
clip the weighted water, dragging her in
akin to being lodged in cement
a fallen fairy - 'Lily-Belle'
a damsel in distress!
Spread-eagled seaplane afloat
her wispy wings an artwork
in stained-glass windows
segmented, segregated
from the others that look on helplessly...
Just like so many others before her
in the futile waiting game
of fading into blackness...
at the brink, when from nowhere
a sudden sweep of the net,
the old passer-by retrieves her
from her impending fate
left aside, as the warm glow of the sun
and gentle breezes enrobe,
dispersing moisture
the gift of a new lease of life!
slowly spreading her wings,
she quivers, feeling airy and light,
her awaiting buddies rejoice
as once again, she takes flight...

About this poem

After retrieving dragon flies/damsel flies out of the swimming pool so often, I wrote a few lines on a whim!
