Analysis of I have seen the light before

Nanai Joseph 2000 (Dar es salaam)

I have seen the light before

I look at my life in tears of wonder,
I received darkness in a prize box,
I witnessed the garden I planted each successful step turn into a graveyard,
I opened my eyes wide,
My vision was blurred,
I blinked hard and saw nothing.

Believe me when I say,
I have seen the light before,
My dream finding its way to me,
Taking the swirls, enticing my steps,
My skin could feel its touches,
My nose knows its scent,
I dived in the depth of every new day with laughter,

I wasn’t high, my hopes were.
