Analysis of Hope

I was a girl with a cheerful and beautiful soul.
I was a girl; vibrant and fiery.
I had a loving family of my own.

My pride, a woman I called "Mama"
And a hero: The man i called "Pops".

But, I was clawed.
Brutally they were murdered
And forcefully, I was taken.

Life left me at the hands of a sordid beast.
I was no social butterfly but I was labelled a "snub".

At night, I'd wallow in my misery and cry me to sleep.
At dawn in this shallow world, it was all masks of smile.

In my eyes you could see all the hurt and pain.
For as my heart is plagued with worry.
So were my thought laced with fear.

My guardians were my doom.
They instilled in me nothing but self doubt.

I wondered why I was envied even when I had nothing or no one to call my own.

So I thought,
Maybe because I was strong and brave enough to continue living.
Moreover, being brave and strong only served to heighten their abuse.

Could it be my diadem, yet that was nothing short of a facade.
Hope sure does bloom like a morning glory.

I was alive but dead.
I had no dream,
No safe haven
And my future was bleak.

But they saw my pain and guise
And led me out of the dark.

It matters not what are souls are made of: Life only takes that which can be replaced
And in my life, I was broken but I survived.

About this poem

This is basically a self explanatory poem about an innocent girl who lost her parents in a fire staged by her uncle because he was envious of the father and his success. She was abused both physically and psychologically.
