Analysis of Ghost dance of the white buffalo

Ghost dance of the white buffalo

Traditions holding deep
roots to an earthen flesh
ripped out from under bleeding soil

Indigenous aliens exiled to urban schemes
wondering strangers in endangered lands
observe the passing of withered earth

Through the shadows of forgotten ancestors
where ghosts of children dance
to songs of sacred drums
elders speak sermons on the mount
of trails of tears

On the greasy grass of buried dreams
and wake to dying screams
paralleled steel rail lines meet
in the distance of black hills
screeching boxcars pass
through barbed wire of gated walls
And discarded buffalo hides

Lonely plains forest hearts
lie bare to autumn clouds
where stewards of the earth
sing their dance on Wounded Knee

Of broken arrows
through burning rings of fire
Where eagles crest
in feathered nest do lie
Wild horses roamed free
of boundaries set in
and Children of the forest played

In natures temple that
swept its leaves away
To paths long ago forgot
and rivers that run no more
Unbraided to a sunken sun
open wide great spirits
to the sunrise in thier eyes
Where ghosts of white buffalo's lie
as long as the grass shall grow
as long as the rivers shall run
