Analysis of Sign; Hear
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
The fear of the Lord is not a joke
My flesh trembles for fear of you
And I am afraid of your judgments!
I fear you Father because you are strong
And not just in reverence, in that I’m not wrong
Only a fool would not fear my God
To the back of a fool he’ll deliver a rod
The postman is here and he’s looking for you
So, get out your stamps the postage is due
You can be delivered, but oh what a price
You better believe that he won’t pay it twice
A good little boy down the street pulls his wagon
He delivers the letters; his feet are not dragons
He walks up to your house and knocks on the door
If you sign for the package he won’t ask for more
But if you won’t sign it goes back in the wagon
And back up the street and you’ll die with your feet dragging
