Analysis of what's it like

what’s it like, to look back in the mirror
and to be satisfied with who you see.
what’s it like being able to wear size 00 in jeans,
without having to suck in.
what’s it like getting to feel confident in skin tight tops,
the ones that show off your ribs just right.
what’s it like to not shove your fingers down your throat,
watching that meal you just ate come back up.
what’s it like brushing your hair,
without clumps coming out at the slightest tug.
what’s it like not choking down laxatives,
pretending they're those candies you used to love.

what’s it like to feel like there is a reason
to get up in the morning.
what’s it like not being trapped in darkness,
the feeling of doom impending upon your lifeless body.
what’s it like seeing angels instead of demons,
when you lay down to finally rest.
what’s it like driving down the highway
without debating ending it all.
what’s it like taking pills to ease a headache,
instead of taking them to numb the pain.
what’s it like not taking relief in carving deep gashes into your skin,
watching the blood flow out of yourself.
what’s it like to shout and have words come out,
instead of being trapped in your own mind.
