Analysis of match
on a cold, winter day
i was walking
down the street,
barefoot in my
my thin sweater.
snowflakes fell down
from the sky
and landed in my
tangled hair.
i shivered,
my tears freezing
on my pink cheeks.
i was so cold.
i walked
and i walked
and i walked,
passing happy families,
and happy couples,
and happy friends,
and even the ones
who walked alone
were happy.
i was so cold,
a forgotten ghost in
the happiest town.
the sky grew dark,
and i was
all alone.
all alone.
when all of the sudden,
there was a fire.
no, not a fire.
a match was struck
against the concrete
and the smallest flame
was ignited.
i held the match
and watched the flame
as it burned
before my eyes.
the match,
the smallest flame,
warmed my hands,
unfroze my tears
and let them flow.
and as i walked,
the light
illuminated the street
and i could finally see.
i was still lost,
still lost,
but now i knew
that i could
find my way
to wherever
i was going.
