Analysis of Pleasing Sacrifices
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Remember your leaders,
Those who spoke of the Word;
Scriptures from the readers,
That your ears having heard.
Consider the outcome,
About their way of life;
Of what they do succumb,
Through the toils and strife.
Christ is the same today,
And the same forever;
His Word will never stray,
As it will not sever.
Stray not by strange teachings,
Nor about strange doctrine;
Results are far reaching,
That could cause you to sin.
It is good for the heart,
To be strengthened by grace;
Not desires to start,
That would try to embrace.
We have no right to eat,
As served on the altar;
The sacrificial meat,
That could make you falter.
For the bodies of those,
Whose blood has been brought;
For the sin the God knows,
The same as what Christ bought.
Christ died outside the gate,
Blood sanctified for us;
To seal a righteous fate,
For believers as thus.
Let us go forth therefore,
Bear the shame he endured;
So that we can ensure,
The path that Christ secured.
Seek the city to be,
A city to entice;
Praising God as we see,
Of pleasing sacrifice.
