Analysis of STRANGE ARCHAEOLOGY
Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)
Grave-robbers stumble
'Cross corpses that come to life;
Reaching out for them.
Mummified creatures
Returning to life to hunt,
The desecraters.
Ancient guardians
From another time and place,
Protecting treasures.
Tomb violators
Find more than they bargained for,
In an ancient crypt.
Royal protectors
Guarding burial chambers,
From modern looters.
Aeons-dead beings
Returned to life one more,
At unfamiliar steps.
Shambling dead tomb dwellers
Tackling modern thieves,
Tearing them limb from limb.
Strange archaeology
Ancient minders killer,
Modern tresspassers.

About this poem
This started out as a single haiku, then years later I expanded it into a much longer poem.
