Analysis of losing teeth in bubblegum

i am ashamed to say you wore me out
pulled me so thin

you are wrigley’s
    you are big league chew

i think my skin is falling from the bone
my eyes are so black so
hollow
i don’t want to speak about this anymore

i am too tired
    my jaw has gone stiff

i want to beat you
i want to see you explode
i will see you explode

i kept chewing
i didn’t know whose flesh was between my teeth; i learned it was yours

my suffering has made me holy
my pen on lined paper
i have turned blood into ink

when i finally spat you out
you lost your flavor years ago

will it be worth it? will i be remembered
on the palm of your hands?
on the small of your back?
i hope i will. i hope i stain like red wine

i don’t know why i kept chewing
i’m just glad i don’t have the taste of you in my mouth anymore

i remember long ago
i thought bubblegum was so sweet
it tastes like leather to me now
i wonder if revenge would be sweeter
