Analysis of THE WHISPERER
When the whisperer comes to town
Evil deeds soon come about,
He's spreading evil whispers
Which people believe without a doubt.
He tells of murder and mayhem
Just hinting at people's names,
There isn't anyone pure enough
For the whisper to not defame.
He whispers of theft and burglary
And hints at whoever did it,
Without quite naming anyone
People take it as Holy Writ.
He encourages posses to punish
The innocent as well as the bad,
He's stirring up lynching mobs
So the innocent can hang.
He talks of child-abusers
Without a single piece of proof,
And when the blameless are hurt
He stands back so aloof.
The whisperer hurts the innocent
He slanders the pure at heart,
He drives the good to suicide
But for him, that's just a start.
He accuses women of sleeping around
And breaks up happy marriages,
He singles out the guiltless
And with his whispering disparages.
And when his latest township
Has been reduced to all-out hatred,
He moves on to a new locale
For the moment his needs are sated.
THE END
