Anyone who knows me, knows I am rarely 'speechless'. But that's how I feel. I'm both honored and amazed. After reading the other entries, I never (ever) thought I'd win 1st place. I'm thankful to everyone here for the love and support I've received since joining this site. Not only has it given me the opportunity to express myself through poetry, but I've met an entire family of like-minded; beautiful people. Congratulations to the other winners. Everyone here is a winner to me. OK...I'll shut-up now :)

Based on my poem only getting 53 views to date, I noticed not everyone reads all the poems before voting. I hope all who read my poem, enjoyed it. Congratulations to the winners. I really enjoyed reading everyone's poems.

I didn’t even know you can check your view count for the poems you submitted for a contest until now! Finding out that not everyone read your poem sucks, but I hope you stay resilient and don’t let this discourage you from continuing to write (and submit) amazing poetry.

Congratulations to all the winners of our March poetry contest! We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who participated. It was a particularly challenging competition, and we commend all those who entered. A special congratulations goes out to our esteemed member, Robin Loving, who has now won first place twice and has become the first poet to do so.

Deciding which one to vote for gets a little tougher as time goes by and yet it's quite fascinating to witness how everyone's work just keeps on improving.
Glad to came across such community proliferated with amazing talent. :)

I don't think I've ever been called an 'esteemed member' of anything before :). Thank-you so much for that, and helping to get me back on-line. Being here means the world to me.

Robin just brought to my attention that Gerald Logie was actually the first poet to win first place twice… apologize for the oversight on my part. It seems that there may be a competition brewing to determine the first poet to win three times and settle the question of who truly is the better poet :-)

I'm still willing to arm-wrestle Gerald if he's up for it :)!

Happy March guys, the best month for poetry (not because it’s my birth month or anything)! Good luck to all the newcomers and returning contestants, looking forward to reading all of them.

Has anyone else checked-out the new AIDA feature? I'm fascinated by the technology that can produce a Robot that reads, analyzes and offers a critique for a poem within seconds. It's fun and easy to use (on poems that aren't currently in a contest) Along with hearing where your poem may have gone astray; and offering constructive criticism...it starts out with what you did RIGHT! Just click on one of your poems; scroll to the bottom and hit the AIDA feature. It's fun :)

I gave my previous comment in a jocular mood. I realize that Forum members have votes with the greatest impact. Their standards and expectations are pretty much grass roots. Who can guess how they will turn?

Is this going to be the one where the judges flipped a coin? Came up rhymed verse and not free verse. Came up Southern states and not England or Canada? Did contest entrants read more than 55% of the selections before casting their votes?

      Dear Doug,

Thank you for expressing your concerns about the perceived lack of impartiality in our poetry contest. We appreciate all feedback, and we take it seriously.

We want to clarify that our poetry contest is unique in that the participants themselves serve as the judges. Each participant has the opportunity to read and evaluate all submissions, and ultimately vote for the poem they believe is the best.

We have established strict guidelines and rules to ensure that the voting process remains fair and unbiased. We do not disclose the identity of the poets, and we ensure that each submission is presented anonymously.

We understand that some participants may have personal preferences or biases that could influence their voting decisions. However, we encourage all participants to approach the contest with an open mind and to evaluate each submission based on its merits.

We believe that our unique approach to the poetry contest allows for a diverse range of voices and perspectives to be represented. It also promotes community engagement and encourages participants to support and appreciate each other's work.

Thank you for your participation in our poetry contest! We hope that you will continue to be involved in future events.

thank you for the comments. My poem was mostly tongue in cheek. Your input here corroborates that your study of the process is very much eyes close to the road, and assessments as equitable as possible.
This exchange helps all competitors to realize that the contests are valid. I will repeat my question about whether persons entering have in fact read all of the entries. I have not read 100% myself. I landed on one that I knew to be exceptional and I chose it.
      Have a good evening ivry.
