Ajibogere, Sola; a native of Ijesa-isu, Ekiti state, Nigeria, is a graduate of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, with a B.Sc. (Honours) in Microbiology. His poem, “Sun-plea,” was published in Eleventh Transmission, and another, “The Song of the Evening Harvest,” was published in Africa Poetry Magazine. He loves watching and playing soccer.

Okro trees bear
Leaves generous in size,
Each leaf raises its
Stalk to sprout yellow flowers in
The hinge

Between main stalk
And leaf-stalk;
The flowers blossom and light
The farm in yellow flame
Of beauty resplendent;

Soon, they fall,...

A Swimmer in the Orifice

A fellow dives into an orifice,
Passion moves through his veins;
It starts, first from the soles

Of the feet; then moves as snake’s
Venom from ankle-points upwards, it gets
To the loin, makes a momentary stop, heaves

And sighs, pants...

Packet of ocean air

Dear alligator
Are the crocodiles feeling well?
Feeding well on a terrine
Of tasty mackerel...
