I'm originally from Washington, D.C., but spent 30 years in Alaska working in the electrical industry. While in Alaska, I began writing poetry from experiences and inspirations I got living in the great Northwest; it soon became a full-time hobby. After retiring, I moved to the mountains of North Carolina with my wife, where I continue writing to this day. It's a great way to exercise my mind, as I'm now somewhat limited in physical activities.

My once-growing circle
of family and friends
has been visibly dwindling
by various ends.

I see fewer faces
wherever I look
and time's closing in fast,
like the end of a book.

The sentiment deepens
