My name is Ginger and I come from the State of Virginia, USA. There are no colleges or universities under my belt, just a high school diploma and somewhat a good head on my shoulders. I married at 20 and had my only child, a son, by 21. My love was being a homemaker and taking care of my husband and son. I came from a good sized family, my parents and four siblings. I truly love/loved my parents greatly and my siblings, their families and all my family. Then on September 11, 2002, my world came crashing down. My husband of 31 years had a motorcycle accident and he passed away. By the time he had passed, we had three grandchildren, he loved them all dearly, as well as his son, who was also his best friend. Now I will not say that there had not been ups and downs in our marriage, as with all marriages there had been. Yet, for me he was my soul mate and it took all within me to hold myself together for my son and our oldest grandchild, a boy also. Our grandson thought his Grandpa 'hung the moon' and I held myself together for my son and my grandson and our two little granddaughters also. This is when I found my words in poetry. This was the beginning of what has become a love of mine. Yet, it takes deep emotion of some kind for me to write.I first became a member of the old Poetry.Com back in 2002. I have many poems on Poetry.Com with the old archives. To me being able to write a poem takes something 'going on' down in my spirit. Whether that be death, loss, love, humor; all of the emotions that take us through this life. I love writing poetry, though I have no teaching of it at all. I just start putting it on paper and it usually comes out good, at least to me. I try all kinds of types of poetry from rhyming to free style. I have had one poem printed in a book, plus have received several awards. For some reason my love of poetry has brought a feeling of self-worth and goodness to my soul. To me, that is what it is all about. It has been a great, humbling experience to read and review the poems that I have had come before me. Many of them were uplifting and brought out feelings of being within the poem, able to feel what the writer was meaning and their feelings. I pray that my reviews were met with the ability to understand my reasons for what I gave as my review. I meant no one harm, I only meant to try to lead the writer in different ways of putting their feelings on paper. None the less, I found myself reading more beautiful and awesome poems that I could ever imagine. Thank you all for allowing me the privilege of making the reviews. Also, I want to thank Poetry.Com for allowing a place on the site for us to put Spiritual and Inspirational Poems, poems that have nothing to do with religion at all...just Spiritual and Inspirational Poetry. Again thank you all at Poetry.Com., Ginger Rafferty
