Your Poetic Day

Step One: Keep a fountain pen: for jet-stream inspiration, by your alarm clock and some fine lined paper. This enables one to have immediate access to release poetic dreams.

It is also wise to have a small snack wrapped in tin foil and some juice kept in a sealed jug or cup to keep it fresh, which snack and juice is entirely your choice, whatever one likes the most. A poet works better on a full stomach.

Step Two: Upon waking, feeling full of colourful imagination, hopefully, collect the poetry which is trying to run back towards the pillow, we all know how dreams like to elude us when we first open our eyes. A good way to collect the verse is to wear a hair net whilst sleeping, providing one has hair of course.

With a flourish of energy, unwrap the afore mentioned snacks and take a hefty swig of the juice. You are now ready to pick up the fountain pen and fine lined paper, do so without delay and release your poetic masterpiece onto the paper. Do not worry about handwriting or spelling/grammar at this point for one will tidy up the work afterwards.

Step Three: Smile. Read over your newly written masterpiece and metaphorically pat yourself on the back for a job well done, then finish off the snack, if any is left. At this point one may or may not get dressed and head towards the computer. Once at the computer one is now ready to type up the genius that has spilled ink onto the fined lined paper. Here is where spelling and grammar is fixed. With luck you will catch all, if indeed there are any to begin with.

Once you have done this you are ready to unleash your brilliance on the world. The day is over now, work wise, so you are free to either, go back to bed or vegetate in front of the television, one may, if one is feeling adventurous, take a walk.
