The Red Ridges LXVII

Hems! Ijendu, have you finished mending the freezer?
You must take care that our fishes may be well preserved
You must save for today and tomorrow, home and abroad
You should have a ready reckoner in your head

Have you oiled and fueled the generator?
Have you changed the plugs and the change overs switches
This business does not tolerate breaks in transmission
The trawlers are coming in and the drag nets are heavy

Its your fish to freeze, fry, dry and market
Its your price to fix, try, manage and adjust
Its your pond to build, grow, harvest and recycle
Its your river to invest in, divert, catch and pool resources

Into co-operatives and interactives that trade well
Into recipes and menus that count the hours good
Like the adventurous point and kill and take home
Like the tell tale pepper soup and skillful cutleries

So here is your show case and air-conditioned eatery
Be careful how you charge the idle times that waste
Be mindful how you manage the crowded times that sell
That no teeth may be broken trying to smile over a meal
