The Darkness

I don't like sitting in the dark
Left alone with nothing but my thoughts
With memories that just don't fade
The flare up, like a fire burning my insides
Too hot, too bright
The memories of my past
In the dark, I cant run away
I cant get away
Its just me, in my head
What I should be, what I have done
My biggest regrets, bursting at the seams
The sunlight causes them to shy away with ongoings of the day
But the darkness , they gain momentum and come full force
I twist and turn in bed
A million thoughts play in my head
It tears me up inside
My eyes threaten to cry
I let the silence eat me up
I am consumed by the things I have to do and cannot
The clock shouts at me: Time is passing! Its leaving you behind!
Before long, everything will be gone
All you have done is lay there in the dark
The dark is my enemy and my very best friend
It reminds me of the loneliness inside
Yet it hides me with its embrace
It keeps what the world cannot see: The other side of me
It taunts me, spits at me, mocking me
Yet keeps every secret I keep
I don't like sitting in the dark
The demons come out to play
Stirring within the realms of my soul
I am too weak to fight them in the dark
I don't like laying in the darkness
Anxious and restless for the day
I close my eyes and beg for peace I pray for divine intervention
I happily give in to the loving arms of sleep and put my thoughts away in the daybreak
They stay hidden again until the darkness descends.
