Mercy

Robert Smith

How long must I fail?
How much love must I love?
How long must pain endure?
How long before I can choose?
Before I am eligible for mercy.

How many battles fought and lost?
How long must my memories cry?
How long must the screaming last?
How many years of death do I die?
Before I am eligible for mercy.

How much darkers will the darkness get?
How empty will my soul become?
How much more useless clutter in my life?
How will I remember singing sung?
Before I am eligible for mercy.

Again, my heart thirsts.
Again, there is no light.
Again, emptiness is routine.
Again, I exist only in the night.
How long before the mercy?
