Empty Eyes

Your blatant disregard has changed me.
I no longer know me.
You should have killed me.
For now I’m out of control.
I can’t be held responsible.
For what’s about to take place.
Piece by piece I remove my face.
I’m now letting you out of my head.
As I brush the remains of our love from the bed.

You’re disregarding that you have created me.
Yet it’s clear to see, how easily, it is to walk away.
As you whisper down the phone and say.
“He can no longer stay, he frightens me”.
Strengthened by one sided sympathy.
How fragile your strength.
How fragile your lies.
How black is your soul?
How empty your eyes?

For I’m the burden of your distractions.
I’m the consequence of your actions

So let the bile rise, fill those eyes.
Stay down on your knees, contract disease.
Fabricate lies, recruit alibis,
Beat down the door, preparations for war.
Rip and tear, cut off your hair.
I no longer care what goes on at all.
Whether you stand or whether you crawl.

I relinquish the desire to extinguish this fire.
Let it fucking burn.
There’s nothing left here for me,
So I’ll turn and show myself to the door.
I will not fix this anymore.

So, go a head, be annoyed.
I’m not going away.
Think about the home you destroyed,
Whenever you watch our children play.
