Daughter

Tiny little baby girl
Smiling, singing, playing twirl
She'd scamper and dash and I'd trail
Till ribbons untie and tresses unfurl

on the sound we'd drift and sail
swell to chop into the gale
Savory cool and misty air
Toss the catch into the pail

Heavy a haul and load to bear
Again I'd do it all I swear
A million times I'd retrace
Each step what had us here

Wide eyed, excited, with a fresh face
To possibilities far from this place
Away she'll soar, away she'll embrace
life, love and finding her space.
