a new set of eyes

there he goes
away in the wind
his halo shatters
and his wings are gone
he is no more an angel
i can see through his lies
as before i could not
everything is so clear
i have a brand new set of eyes
so much more pure
that guy in the suit
sitting on the park bench
he's out of work
doesn't know how to tell his wife
why have i never cared before
he showed me the wrong path
but I'm backing out
have to re-find
my path
because he led me down the broken path
i cant go on like this
i cant continue down a broken path
i have to care again
even if it isn't about myself
i have to care about someones
once again
i will shield my heart
and try to fix others
because i need a new set of eyes
more pure
and loving
like i use to be
this boy
he was no good for me
why did i fall
why did i love him
why did i follow him
why did i let him break my heart
but more important
why did i let him change me
change me into this monster i am today
so i will let him go
with his halo shattered
and his wings gone
