Sandwood Bay

Sandwood Bay, oh Sandwood Bay
Tae taste delight o’ Shinary
Yir golden dune an’ surfin’ wave
An’ trawl oot yonder an’ hidden cave

An’ the words o’ a wa’ tae warn aw thru’
O’ a wulbeast roamin’ yir sand
Where the wee ponds by gie’ a joy tae the eye
When yir mist cleaves nae tae the land

Aw tramp yir peat an’ doon yir boggy
Tae meet the vraith o’ roofless bothie
Yir popcorn wisp an’ milk white wave
An’ divin’ bird dae water shave

Sandwood Loch, oh Sandwood Loch
Tae spy haff skultie maid o’ yir cloich
An’ Scomber Scombrous that shine yir shore
An’ stately Salar yir murmled door

Sandwood Bay, oh Sandwood Bay
We’ll dance again wan dingle day
Fir anither glance at yir munelichty manse
An’ a swallae an’ a glug an’ a midnichty hug

Sandwood Loch, oh Sandwood Loch
Yir towerin’ light o’er fishin’ flock
Peers doon bold at sea oft’ surly
An’ jagged stack wi’ perilous pourie

Tae’ jaunty jamph tae yon fine beach
Nae’ stane’s thraa awa’ or freendly reach
‘Tis John Muir Trust sae dinnae be kind
Tae’ them wha’ leave their trash behind
