Triste (Silva)

Jose Asuncion Silva 1865 (Bogotá) – 1896 (Bogotá)

Cuando al quererlo la suerte
se mezclan a nuestras vidas,
de la ausencia o de la muerte,
las penas desconocidas,

y, envueltos en el misterio
van, con rapidez que asombra,
amigos al cementerio,
ilusiones a la sombra,

la intensa voz de ternura
que vibra en el alma amante
como entre la noche oscura
una campana distante,

saca recuerdo perdidos
de angustias y desengaños
que tienen ocultos nidos
en las ruinas de los años,

y que al cruzar aleteando
por el espacio sombrío
van en el ser derramando
sueños de angustia y de frío

hasta que alguna lejana,
idea consoladora,
que irradia en el alma humana
como con lumbre de aurora,

en su lenguaje difuso
entabla con nuestros duelos
el gran diálogo confuso
de las tumbas y los cielos.
