An Artist's Art

An artist's art; only this time, the art is the artist
He pours his soul into creating this art
That has the power to please
The eyes, souls and hearts of men

His sweat and blood mix with the paint and clay
And so, he toils day and night on the bay
Buried in it, far away from the rest of the world
Only to show up when the masterpiece was done

Beads of sweat and smiles trailing down his face
The people see him and run with an embrace
Cause they’ve been waiting for so long
For that little facade in his arms

The piece he has spent forever trying to perfect
If only they could see, the truest form of art
Standing in front of them, almost losing himself
In a quest to make them smile

Even he, the creator does not know
That an artist’s greatest art is himself
And he is the art they’ve been longing for
Even without knowing it

If only he knew...
