Overthinking

Overthinking, a burden we bear,
In our minds, it takes root and grows there.
Simple tasks become mountains to climb,
As we analyze every move, every time.

The weight of decisions feels like a chain,
Keeping us stuck, unable to gain
Any momentum or progress made,
As our thoughts become a barricade.

We second-guess every word we say,
Worried about how others may stray
From our true intentions, our heart's desire,
Lost in a maze of doubt and mire.

Simple pleasures become fraught with worry,
As we dissect each moment, in a hurry
To find flaws and faults in our every action,
Crippling ourselves with self-infraction.
