When Sunshine Comes again.

Liah Morgan 2008 (KY)

A few years ago an
 “Extraordinary event” occurred
At least that is what
every scientist
And every
Human being said

However, I’m not sure that
Is what you would call it
To me horrific
Is a more suitable
Word…

This is what happened
Friday, March 19, 2060
Started out
On a normal day
People were eating breakfast
Getting ready for school

Then out of nowhere
Everything got a lot darker
It wasn’t completely dark
We could all see a little
Due to our lights
And the stars in the sky

Everyone raced out
Of their houses
And immediately
Stopped
Because the sun was gone
The moon was gone

No one knew
What had happened
Scientists speculated
Many different events
From a planet blocking it to
The Supernatural
Either way everyone
Had the same thoughts
“ What in the world?”
Now we are all
Hopelessly waiting
For when…
Sunshine
Comes
Again

About this poem

One of my favorite short stories and the recent eclipse of April 8 2024 inspired it.
