Can't Undo America!

Can’t Undo America
By Chris Commodore©2007

In liberty and freedom
A homeland pledged to God
One nation indivisible
Can’t undo America

Undaunted armies resolute
Marines and Navies true
Air forces span her spacious skies
Can’t undo America

In hidden nooks and crannies
Attired like old grannies
Explosives in your running shoes
Can’t undo America

Adorned with menacing headbands
Cross burners draped in sheets
Vile cowards, terrorizing clans
Can’t undo America

Home-grown nor foreign terrorists
Nor sadomasochists
Regardless of your bombing plans
Can’t undo America

First, congratulations Chris Commodore on composing a powerful and moving tribute to the spirit of America! Your poem, 'Can't Undo America,' captures the essence of our nation's resilience and unwavering strength profoundly. The dedication to the homeland, the respect for our armed forces, and the emphasis on our ability to withstand challenges from both home-grown and foreign threats, all convey powerful messages about American strength and unity which are essential elements in times of difficulty.

The rhythm and flow of the poem are largely consistent and effective, infusing the piece with a sense of urgency and determination. The repetition of 'Can't undo America' acts as a reinforcing mantra showing an unbreakable spirit.

One area that could potentially increase the poem's appeal and impact would be to add imagery that illuminates the positive aspects, celebrating the diversity, achievements and natural wonders of America. Near the end, the poem turns towards a darker tone with the mention of terrorists and sadomasochists. While the message of resilience against such forces is understood, incorporating a sense of balance by also celebrating the lighter side might enhance the overall impression.

Another aspect to consider is the opening line, where America is described as being 'pledged to God.' This could potentially alienate readers who are not religious. It might be worth considering a more inclusive line while maintaining the encompassing idea of unity and commitment.

Overall, your poem is a heartening piece communicating the enduring spirit of America that will withstand all adversities. Thank you for creating such a poignant work. With a few minor tweaks, it could appeal to an even wider audience. Keep writing, Chris!
